STRATEGY TO INCREASE ROLE OF AGRICULTURE IN GORONTALO REGENCY

Abstract

Gorontalo Regency is one of the districts that rely on the agricultural sector. The value of the agricultural sector in Gorontalo Regency has always increased but its role has decreased, from 2010 to 2016. The purpose of this study is to analyze whether agriculture is a base sector and analyze the development of the agricultural sector in Gorontalo Regency. Based on the results of LQ and Shift Share analysis, it can be concluded that the agricultural sector is a base sector, so it is a leading sector, but has slow growth and has no competitiveness in Gorontalo Regency. Therefore, the government needs to pay more attention to this agricultural sector, by increasing the linkages in conducting business between agricultural producers with their upstream and downstream activities.
