THE ROLE OF AGRICULTURE EXTENSION OF EMPOWERMENT AND DEVELOPMENT OF RICE SEED FARMERS GROUP

Abstract
The objectives of this study are: (1) To identify the condition of rice seed breeders in the research area, (2) To describe the role of agricultural extension workers in empowering rice seed breeders in the research area, (3) To determine the role of extension agents in increasing productivity and marketing of group seed yields breeder The sampling method uses the saturated sampling method (census), the data used are primary data and secondary data. Data were analyzed using a Likert Scale based on answers to 29 questions to measure the role of extension agents with a total of 20 people. The results showed that the institutional conditions of Bumdes Tombei seed breeding groups in Pematang Panombeian Village and Jasmine farmer groups were good enough, the institutional conditions included the division of clear but less implemented group structures, good communication between members and administrators, solidarity between members and good administrators, coaching and group development get guidance and training from the government. The role of extension agents in the development and empowerment of groups of seed breeders is categorized as having a role in carrying out their duties, namely as motivators, information, educators, communicators and catalysts in the role category, but the role of extension agents as organizers gets quite a role category. The role of extension agents in increasing farmer productivity is a role category. While the role of extension agents in marketing farmers' produce is categorized as less important
