Abstract

Potatoes are one of the horticultural commodities that have an important role in the Indonesian economy. This commodity is included in one of the leading commodities of horticulture that continues to be developed. The prices of other commodities that tend to rise have resulted in farmers producing commodities turning to others. Price fluctuations can be detrimental to farmers because of various factors faced, including the timing of sales and prices that are difficult to predict (change at any time). This results in a production structure that is not conducive to price stability, so that when crop failure occurs due to disease pests or a surge in production due to the influence of climate in one production center, it will have a major effect on the overall market balance. The purpose of this study was to analyze the market structure, market concentration and analyze the barriers to exit or entry of the granola potato market in Batur District, Banjarnegara Regency, Central Java. The analytical method used is qualitative methods and quantitative methods to analyze market structure, market concentration and analyze the barriers to exit or entry of the granola potato market in Batur District, Banjarnegara Regency, Central Java. The results of the analysis obtained are that the market structure of granola potatoes at the farm level leads to a perfectly competitive market with a cumulative concentration ratio of 28.85%, market concentration shows the market structure of granola potatoes at the merchant level is in imperfect competitive market conditions with cumulative concentration ratio values by 100%. The types of obstacles experienced by traders in general are the same, including barriers to entry and barriers to exit. Entry barriers experienced include prices, facilities (roads), transportation, illegal fees, capital, and perishable goods.
